Before the season of tans and serotonin, powerful singer VASSY and Dutch producer RSCL worked together on “Beg,” a summery dance song with lots of piano. The song is now out on Gemstone Records, which is a house music label that grew out of Hardwell’s famous label Revealed.
VASSY has never been shy. Without a doubt, her voice is strong and unique, and it was made for songs that make you feel something. As she and RSCL show on “Beg,” dance music with real emotional weight can only give off a certain kind of confidence.
That’s a summer song, but it knows that not all the fun comes without some pain.
“This track came from a very real place of emotional surrender,” said VASSY. „It’s about those times when your pride goes away and you’re just real, open, and honest, sometimes so much that it breaks your heart. When it came to music, I wanted to bring back the event energy that you know me for while also making it more open. It was important to me that it felt good, hit hard, and told a greater story. That’s always been my style: strong emotions.”
The leather-clad move that VASSY did in “Bad” is what “Beg” is like: she runs barefoot toward something real. “Don’t make me beg my baby, when it only feels this good with you,” she sings, expressing a need for connection beneath the surface of a happy mood.
At the same time, RSCL’s sunny piano chords and sparkling organ patterns are full of life. His work here is new and not trying too hard. He made a beat that is meant to make people happy but is based in emotion.
