Brooklyn rapper O Dawg has shared a new album called Electronic Art: Nobody Beats the Rogue. The project feels confident and sharply-crafted, driven by focused instincts and a clear sense of identity. O Dawg raps in a way that grips the listener’s attention from the get-go, while demonstrating versatility- as he is comfortable switching gears while still sounding grounded in East Coast hip-hop grit.
The album moves smoothly between moods. Some tracks lean cinematic and reflective, while others hit harder with tighter rhythms and more aggressive energy. “FBGM” opens things up with a focused, almost calm intensity, setting a tone that carries through the rest of the project. “Press Start” flips the switch, injecting urgency and momentum, while “Shining Force” taps into a more current sound while remaining distinctly true to his style.
“ETHICAL HOOPS” strips things back with dusty textures and gritty delivery, letting character lead the way. On the other end of the spectrum, “FUNTIME USA” loosens things up, bringing in playful electronic elements that keep the project from feeling boxed in. By the time the closing track “THIS ONE GOT IT” rolls around, the album feels complete- ending with confidence instead of overstatement.
Electronic Art: Nobody Beats the Rogue is the sound of an artist comfortable in his lane, trusting his instincts, and letting the music speak for itself. Check out the new album here now.
