Benny Blanco on Marrying Selena Gomez: “It’s Going to Be Low-Key”

2 mins read

In a deeply personal episode of Jake Shane’s popular podcast Therapuss, record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco opened up about his journey through love, mental health struggles, and his extraordinary music career. One of the most touching aspects of the conversation was Blanco’s candid remarks about his fiancée, global superstar Selena Gomez.

“She Makes Life Better”

Speaking about his relationship, Benny Blanco on Marrying Selena Gomez painted a sweet and grounded picture of their everyday life. “She makes me want to hang out and cuddle, just watch things, eat food, and have the best time ever,” he shared. The statement resonated with fans, offering a refreshing glimpse into their intimate and down-to-earth bond.

Although the couple got engaged in late 2024, Blanco admitted that wedding plans are still on pause. “Honestly, I really want to take a little break. I’ve been working so much,” he said. “I just want to lay in bed and forget what day it is because we’ve been in bed just watching stuff. Not usually, but with Selena, I can do it all day.”

He added that they hope to begin planning their wedding this summer. When podcast host Jake Shane joked, “That wedding is going to be lit,” Blanco responded with a laugh: “It’ll be chill.”

Opening Up About OCD

Beyond the romance, Blanco also spoke openly about living with obsessive-compulsive disorder, sharing a raw and vulnerable account of his lifelong experience with the condition. “When I was a kid, I used to have this thing where I had to go ‘mmph.’ If I didn’t do it, I thought my parents were going to die,” he said.

Even now, Blanco explained, his OCD manifests in subtle ways—like touching his face or making fake coughing sounds repeatedly throughout the day. “It’s involuntary,” he said, emphasizing that it’s something he’s learned to manage over the years.

“I got rid of all the things that are really annoying to another person,” Blanco shared, reflecting on how he’s adapted his behavior in relationships. “I still do little things like making sure everything in my shower is facing forward. But that’s insane regardless of OCD,” he joked, lightening the mood.

Career Reflections: From Wizards to Billie

Blanco’s career stories also added another layer of intrigue to the episode. One standout moment was when he drew a surprising connection between Wizards of Waverly Place—the show that catapulted Gomez to fame—and Billie Eilish’s chart-topping hit “Bad Guy.”

“I know the theme song [of Wizards] because it inspired ‘Bad Guy,’” he revealed. “I worked with Billie when she was legit like 14 years old.” He recounted how he and FINNEAS were introduced by a mutual lawyer, long before Eilish had performed live. “They didn’t need my help at all. They always do everything just the two of them, and it’s f—–g incredible,” he said with admiration.

A Star Among Stars

Blanco’s Therapuss appearance joins a notable list of previous guests including Tate McRae, Renee Rapp, Charli XCX, Joe Jonas, and Lorde. But what made this episode stand out was Blanco’s refreshing honesty—whether about his love life, mental health, or artistic inspirations.

As fans continue to celebrate Benny Blanco on Marrying Selena Gomez, it’s clear that his openness is more than just relatable—it’s inspiring. From candid confessions to genuine joy, Benny’s story is a reminder that behind every celebrity headline is a real person just trying to find peace, love, and happiness.
