This is “Second Round,” a tech house smash by Sherm, Isaac Palmer, Amero, and Devarra. It’s dirty in all the right ways.
They’ve hit the perfect balance between the swagger of hip-hop and the club vibes of tech house with the new song. Like any good boxer coming back into the ring, they show off their confidence and production skills all over the track.
The arrangement’s main line, “back for a second round,” is simple but effective. It serves as both an earworm and a goal statement. Its backbone is a chunky bassline, and driving drums keep it moving all the time, making a technical knockout of rhythmic precision.
Sherm thinks that “Second Round” shows an artist who knows about the classics but isn’t stuck in their rules.
In a news release, he said, “Everyone who knows me and my music knows that I love to make records that are ready for clubs.” “Tracks that got played live. Different sounds that make you feel something. Songs that make you remember good times with your friends. “Second Round” fits right in with that goal, and everyone else who worked with me on the track felt the same way.”
On May 8, Sherm will play at the Coors Light Snake Pit Pre-Party in Indianapolis. The new song comes out before that show. The proud IU graduate and Indiana native is having a big moment. He will return to the city on June 6 for a homecoming solo show before a big show at Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival in late August.
